This page was updated on 15th December, 2021.
We understand that these are difficult times to navigate and respect people’s right to choose whether or not to vaccinate. However, please remember that the Traffic Light System was introduced by the NZ government and not Pitter Patter Dance Ltd. Your kindness and cooperation is greatly appreciated. Please take a moment to read through the following points carefully and feel free to get in touch if you have any queries or concerns.
We are following guidelines and information as set out by the NZ Government, Exercise NZ and DANZ (Dance Aotearoa New Zealand – a support service for dance studios and teachers).
As a dance studio, we fall under the same category as gyms, yoga studios and other indoor recreation activities (excluding gymnastics), and are therefore required to follow the vaccine pass requirements to be able to keep offering our classes throughout the levels of the traffic light system.
This will mean that all those in attendance that are over 12yrs + 3mths who are eligible for the vaccine will be required to show their unique ‘My Vaccine Pass’ QR code for us to scan using the NZ Pass Verifier app. We will only be required to scan this once per term and will keep a record of only your expiry date in our system.
These must be viewed and scanned and cannot be emailed through for verification due to risk of fraudulent use. Your privacy is important to us and any emails sent with the passes attached will be deleted on your behalf. No information regarding your health or vaccination status will be given to any third party.
We are unable to accept either your purple vaccination card, international travel certificate or any other form of proof of vaccination.
HOW THE LEVELS EFFECT CLASSES
Using the ‘My Covid Pass’ requirement allows us to continue classes as per normal under most of the levels of the traffic light system. Please see the image below for a clear indication of what our classes will look like at the different levels. Being that we hire different facilities throughout Canterbury, some venues will have additional requirements which will be advised if this effects yours wee dancer’s class.
HOW THE LEVELS EFFECT PARTY BOOKINGS
Our party bookings can operate under both CVC use and non-CVC use, but with different regulations in place for each. Please see below based on the status of your guests:
Fully Vaccinated Party: If all those in attendance that are eligible for the vaccine (i.e. over 12yrs+3mths) are fully vaccinated, we can run our party sessions without any restrictions. As the ‘event organiser’, you will be required to scan the ‘My Covid Pass’ for each of your guests and you can download the NZ Pass Verifier app via the link in our Helpful links section below. We can have up to 1 person per square metre of space up to a maximum of 100 people. So, if your party space is 20 square metres, we can have up to 20 people in that space. Most lounges will be fine for this.
Inclusive Party (i.e. mixed or unvaccinated status): At this stage, we can only do these parties outdoors and are unable to offer the rising star (dress up) package, unless those that are unvaccinated are happy to not be in the party space for the duration of our session. Garages with the door up are not permitted. We will not be required to scan passes in this scenario. We can have up to 25 people (including spectators and children) in the defined outdoor party space under orange and ten (including our host) under red. Distancing is not required, but masks are recommended for those watching.
HEALTH & SAFETY
You can view our full Health and Safety info in our Terms & Conditions page here.
Under orange and red settings, additional cleaning will be undertaken before classes at each venue to ensure that all door handles, light switches and seats are wiped down prior to use. Our venues are also adding to their regular cleaning to ensure you are kept safe. If you feel that a facility is not up to standard at any time, please let us know.
Masks are optional across all levels, but are encouraged while entering / exiting the facility and / or using the bathroom etc. Likewise, we encourage distancing wherever possible, particularly in unvaccinated spaces prior to entering the dance space.
You will still be required to ‘scan in’ using the ‘NZ Covid Tracer’ App for the venue. We will also be marking attendance to ensure our tracing information is accurate.
Frequent and thorough hand-washing is encouraged and sanitiser will be made available at all classes upon entry.
Some of our venues will not be required to implement the pass scanner and in these instances, we will scan your pass ourselves. If you are at a venue that requires this, you will scan in with them each week instead and we won’t need to scan you a second time for that session. This applies to Rolleston and possibly Olympia Gymnasium.
Please do not attend class if you / your child is feeling unwell or are still recovering from illness. If you are awaiting a covid test result, you should comply with the government policies regarding self-isolation. Likewise, if a staff member is awaiting a covid test result, they will step down from classes until they return a negative test and their symptoms are gone.
If a staff member tests positive for Covid-19, we will follow MOH guidelines and we will advise any close contacts (i.e. student families in attendance) to do the same. We will notify the venue so that they can complete a deep clean and every attempt will be made to source a relief teacher so that classes can continue until their return. Where relief is unable to be found, a class credit will be offered as per our standard teacher absence policies.
INCLUSIVE OPTIONS (FOR OUR UNVACCINATED OR PRO-CHOICE FAMILIES)
In 2022, we hope to have some inclusive options available for our unvaccinated or pro-choice families including outdoor and additional online options and we will have more info on these soon. If you are interested in any of these, please Contact Us.
In the meantime, you are welcome to drop your child off to class. Please consider your child’s temperament carefully with this option. We have always encouraged parents to be with their child so they feel safe and comfortable, but this would be an option if your child is confident. You must be on time for this option so that the teacher can collect your child and no refunds or credits will be offered if you miss class due to being late as our instructor will not be able to come out once class has begun.
You can also utilise our current online videos and if you are interested in this or the above, again, please Contact Us.
For information about our inclusive party options, please see the section above titled ‘How the levels effect party bookings’.
