We understand that these are difficult times to navigate and understand that some may feel apprehensive or upset at the regulations set during the pandemic. However, please remember that the Traffic Light System was introduced by the NZ government and not Pitter Patter Dance Ltd. Your kindness and cooperation is greatly appreciated. Please take a moment to read through the following points carefully and feel free to get in touch if you have any queries or concerns.
We are following guidelines and information as set out by the NZ Government, Exercise NZ and DANZ (Dance Aotearoa New Zealand – a support service for dance studios and teachers).
We are happy to report that we are no longer required to scan any My Covid Passes for our classes, with the exception of our Friday morning classes held in the Blind Foundation Hall as this building falls under the Health & Disability sector, whom are still required to scan. We have another option on a Friday morning in New Brighton to accommodate for this.
HOW THE LEVELS EFFECT CLASSES
Please see the image below for a clear indication of what our classes will look like at the different levels. Being that we hire different facilities throughout Canterbury, some venues will have additional requirements which will be advised if this affects your wee dancer’s class.
HOW THE LEVELS EFFECT PARTY BOOKINGS
Our party bookings can operate as normal, but with different regulations in place for each level. Please see below:
Green and Orange: No restrictions apply. Masks recommended for over 12’s in attendance.
Red: We can have up to 1 person per square metre of space up to a maximum of 200 people. So, if your party space is 20 square metres, we can have up to 20 people in that space. Most lounges will be fine for this. We can only offer one party that includes dress ups per theme, per weekend, to allow for cleaning between sessions. We will advise at the time of booking if your preferred theme has already been booked for that weekend. Props will be wiped down and cleaned between parties, so these can still be used. Our hosts will need to wear a mask when entering and exiting, but is not required during the session.
Cancellations: Our standard cancellation policies apply, but in the case of your household going into isolation, there are no fees incurred where a postponement is made. You can view our cancellation policies in our standard T&C’s here (see #4.2)
HEALTH & SAFETY
You can view our full Health and Safety info in our Terms & Conditions page here.
Under orange and red settings, additional cleaning will be undertaken before classes at each venue to ensure that all door handles, light switches and seats are wiped down prior to use. Our venues are also adding to their regular cleaning to ensure you are kept safe. If you feel that a facility is not up to standard at any time, please let us know.
Masks are optional across green and orange, but are encouraged while entering / exiting the facility and / or using the bathroom etc. Likewise, we encourage distancing wherever possible, prior to entering the dance space. Under red, masks are required for all over 12s while in common areas and by all spectators unless you have a mask exemption. Masks can be removed by participants during the class by any over 12s, including the instructor.
Frequent and thorough hand-washing is encouraged and sanitiser will be made available at all classes upon entry.
One of our venues (Blind Foundation Hall) will still be required to implement the pass scanner and in this instance, we will be required to scan your covid vaccine pass.
Please do not attend class if you / your child is feeling unwell or are still recovering from illness. If you are awaiting a covid test result, you should comply with the government policies regarding self-isolation. Likewise, if a staff member is awaiting a covid test result, they will step down from classes until they return a negative test and their symptoms are gone.
Where possible, our venues will have a separate entrance and exit to avoid crossover and congestion of classes. You will be advised of this upon enrolment or in the case of any changes to venue requirements.
POSITIVE CASES IN CLASS
If a staff member, spectator or student in attendance tests positive for Covid-19, we will follow all MOH guidelines and attempt to notify relevant families. Every attempt will be made to source a relief teacher so that their other classes can continue until their return. Where relief is unable to be found, a catch up class or credit will be offered as per our standard teacher absence policies.
Please note that we will rely on families notifying us of positive cases that may have been infectious during a recent class and would appreciate it if families could let us know. Those in attendance would not be classed as close contacts and therefore not required to isolate.
FEELING OVERWHELMED? NEED SUPPORT?
This is a very difficult time for many and you may be feeling anxious or stressed. We take the well-being of our staff and dancers very seriously. There is a helpful resource for children and adults which you can find here.
